Veterans Day 2013 WOD

Take time today to honor and thank those who have served and those who are serving your country. We heard a thoughtful writing at CHS that spoke about what a veteran was and how most of them look like you and me but are truly quite different.

In my life this was easy to see in the men around me. On the Air Force base guys were guys and now that I’m older I can understand why they played hard, partied hard, and loved each other just the same. I’ve heard stories of Korea and Vietnam from my grandfather and uncle. You can see the look in their eye is different from other men. Even as a kid I could pick that up. And now it hits home a little harder with a friend and brother in law overseas. War is not a place for the weak and I’m proud to know some of the strong that have served our country. I love Kandahar CrossFits saying, “you wish a rocket attack could stop this workout!”

And Lt. Clapper this ones for you!

So guys get off your couch. The grill can wait. Let’s put in some work!

A suicide bomber killed seven CIA officers and one Jordanian officer at a remote base in southeastern Afghanistan on December 30, 2009 after posing as a potential informant reporting on Al Qaeda. Seven new stars will be etched onto the memorial wall at the CIA where every star represents grieving friends, family and colleagues dedicated to fight against the enemy, forever in their name.

Killed in the attack were CIA officers Jennifer Lynne Matthews, 45; Scott Michael Roberson, 39; Harold E. Brown Jr., 37; Darren LaBonte, 35; Elizabeth Hanson, 30; and security contractors Jeremy Jason Wise, 35, and Dane Clark Paresi, 46.

  1. 29:01 my weights were 95 dead lift 50 thrusters 35 KB swings thick green band pull ups, handstand push ups were wide feet. Did everything except push ups unbroken. Probably should have used a different band on pull ups. Everything else seemed perfect. Happy Veteran’s Day!
